Grands Stepping Up
In Pennsylvania 260,000 children live in households headed by grandparents or other relatives.
We help them to meet their needs.
We are committed to providing the best care for children in our specialty areas of Orthopedics, Burn Care, Spinal Cord Injury, and Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.
American Legion Child Welfare Fund accepts funding proposals from nonprofit organizations for projects that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual welfare of children.
Our goal is to help heal the emotional wounds of military veterans by pairing them with a shelter dog that is specially selected to match his or her personality. Professional animal trainers rehabilitate the dogs and teach them good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle.
Training may also include desensitization to wheel chairs or crutches as well as recognizing panic or anxiety disorder behaviors.
The basic mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Program is to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas.
A LIFT FOR A VET’s mission is to buy and install elevators, home lifts, stair lifts or wheelchair lifts in the residence of disabled U.S. military service veterans from any era, WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Gulf War, Afghanistan or Iraq.
Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan often require special modifications made to their homes so it is handicapped accessible. A wheelchair lift or elevator can be the ticket to getting someone back home and on the way to recovery.
